In 2012 vocalist, songwriter & musician Sandra van Nieuwland experienced an impressive breakthrough because of her participation in The Voice of Holland. She did not win the season, but scored big hits with the songs More and Keep Your Head Up, among others. Even breaking records in the Dutch music charts.

In addition to her vocal talent, she's also an awarded writer. Her strong pop album Banging On The Doors Of Love produced the successful single Hunter, and was awarded with the Edison Pop Award. Watch the videoclip of Hunter
Her album Breaking New Ground was released in November 2015, with more attention to her unique vocal sound. After multiple club and theatre tours, during autumn 2016 Sandra was the support act for no one less than Bryan Ferry.

2018 is the year of new independent music with a more electronic sound. This is when the album Human Alien landed on planet Earth, with songs that tell the story of 'no story'. A record about what we see as identity, and the illusions of life. The release was followed by a brand new theatre tour with 25 shows throughout the country. Listen to Hum of Multitudes
She also participated as one of the guest singers in the Elvis Comeback Special (tour by the Strange Brew band) among Barry Hay, Lucas Hamming, Anne Soldaat, Yorick van Norden and Ntjam Rosie.

2019 started off with composing and writing the music for the show Volgens Mij from the theatre company Bonte Hond, for the 5th of May Liberation Day festivities. She toured with the show and performed for Dutch Prime Minister Rutte. Listen to Thirsty Dolphins
Next to the theatre project Sandra wrote more songs for different art projects, one of those being Stichting Simon de Heer (Dutch painter).

Another tour with the Strange Brew band came along. Sandra sang classic Woodstock songs (Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin) among artists like Frank Lammers, Pablo van de Poel (De Wolff), Ricky Koole, Stéphanie Struijk and Paul de Munnik in 'One Piece of Music'.

At the end of the year the Christmas single Mirrors was released. Listen to Mirrors

In 2020 Sandra visits the Dutch music venues again, going to various cities in the country. Under the name Human Alien And More Sandra and her band play songs from her latest album Human Alien, her award winning album And More, and possibly brand new songs not yet recorded.
Because of the limitations due to the Coronavirus this club tour is moved to 2021.

Last year Sandra wrote the song Little One, shortly after her ex (father of her three sons) told her he would get a baby with his new partner.
Sandra: 'This news scared me at first, because that what I was always afraid of [after we split up]. Luckily emotions change over time as well. I'm sure it will turn things upside down for a little while, even after all this time. But it's also beautiful. I'm honestly happy for them.'
With Little One Sandra welcomes this new life and tells us how she experiences the situation. Although it's a sensitive and quiet song, it still has the modern, electronic feel that predominates her album Human Alien.

In June 2021 the summer single Sandcastles is released, with a retro 80's vibe.
